Roll-up vs X-Stand: What's the Difference and Which Should You Choose? (With Real Sizes and Prices)

Roll-ups and X-stands are both almost 2 metres tall and look alike. They differ in the frame and how the graphic is stored: a roll-up rolls its graphic into the base, while an X-stand hangs it on a crossed frame.

In short: if you use it often and want a smooth, flat graphic, choose a roll-up. If you use it only a few times or need many locations, choose an X-stand.

How Is a Roll-up Different from an X-stand?

A roll-up
  • The graphic rolls into an aluminium base, so it doesn't crease
  • 3-piece aluminium centre pole, stainless steel feet
  • Comes with a carry bag, ready for the next event
  • Complete set with print from 1,270 THB
Best for: frequent exhibitions, multi-day displays
X stand (X-Banner)
  • The graphic hangs on the pins of an X-shaped frame
  • Carbon-fibre poles, ABS hub, steel parts
  • The frame folds into a bag: light and easy to carry
  • Complete set with print from 1,420 THB
Best for: short campaigns, many locations at once

The X-Banner and the Ezy Change Roll Up are AD ON's own patented designs, not mass-produced imports.

Which One Should You Choose? 3 Questions

  1. Will you reuse it at many events or every day?
Yes: choose a roll-up (Rambo or Ezy Change). The graphic rolls into the base and lasts through many uses.
  2. Do you change promotions often?
Yes: choose the Ezy Change Roll Up, where you change the graphic yourself without double-sided tape, or an X-stand, where a new graphic hangs on straight away.
  3. Do you need many locations on a tight budget?
Yes: choose an X-stand or an economy roll-up. The prices of the two are close.

Outdoors in the wind, neither is recommended, and the warranty does not cover outdoor use. Ask our sales team about other sign types.

Why Do Some Banners Curl and Fade?

Very low-cost banners are mostly printed on PP paper with water-based ink. The colours look vivid at first, but the edges curl and the colours fade quickly.

AD ON prints on PET film with eco-solvent ink, on Epson printers with genuine 12-colour GS3 ink and ICC-profile colour management.

Example: Cheap but Not Durable vs AD ON

AD ON: tight graphics, straight edges, the same colours on every stand
Cheap but not durable: a thin X-stand frame with bent rods and a sagging graphic (illustration)
AD ON X-Banner: straight carbon-fibre poles and a flat, tight graphic (illustration)

Print Material Ladder: Choose by How Durable You Need It

PP paper
Used by most low-cost shops; can curl with long use
Banner Max (PET)
170 or 220 microns thick; flat, tight and long-lasting colours
Banner Ultra
PVC-coated mesh, more durable than PET film, same price as Banner Max 220 microns

Banner Ultra suits banners that are set up or moved often. Choose it in the print options on the product page.

Why AD ON Costs More Than the Market, and Pays Off

AD ON patents
The X-Banner and Ezy Change are designed and made in-house
Stronger frames
Typical X-stands often use recycled plastic and spray-painted iron that break easily
Lifetime frame warranty
X-Banner, Ezy Change and Rambo, under theWarranty Policy
Repair and reprint
Send the frame back for checking, repair and a new campaign graphic, and keep using the same frame

If you set up your banner at every event, the cost per use ends up lower. For a one-off event, an economy model is enough.

Roll-up and X-Stand FAQs

Which is more durable, a roll-up or an X-stand?

It depends on the model. AD ON's X-Banner, Ezy Change and Rambo frames all have a lifetime warranty, but a roll-up's graphic rolls into the base, so it creases less than an X-stand graphic that has to be removed and rolled separately.

Why do some roll-up banners curl and fade?

Mostly because they are printed on PP paper with water-based ink. PP paper curls at the edges with long use, and water-based ink fades with heat or sunlight. AD ON uses PET film with eco-solvent ink, so the graphic stays flat and the colours last longer.

What is the standard roll-up size?

At AD ON, 80×200 cm has the most models, followed by 85×200 and 60×160 cm. Ezy Change runs from 60×160 up to 120×240 cm.

What is the standard X-stand size?

AD ON's X-Banner comes in three sizes: 60×160, 80×180 and 90×210 cm.

How much do roll-ups and X-stands cost, printing included?

The X-Banner 60×160 cm complete set with print starts at 1,420 THB, and the Roll Up C 80×200 cm starts at 1,990 THB. See the price table above.

Can I see the design or a colour proof before printing?

Yes. Our graphic team checks your file, fits it to the frame size, makes a 3D mock-up and sends it for your approval before printing, and we offer colour proofs on the real material. Read more in our FAQ

See every model in the Roll-ups and Banners category. Production takes 1–3 days, or longer for large quantities. Tell us the size, quantity and date you need it, and our team will recommend the right model and give you a price.
